Lauren Daigle Did It, What About Us?
Months ago, I was so bored and tired, so I tried to
boosted my mood while listened to Christian songs on Youtube. I
stumbled on a song titled "How Can It Be" sang by Lauren Daigle, and suddenly
in love with her voice when she worship God through her music. I listened to
her songs and feel so blessed.
A month ago, I accidentally read an article about
Lauren been criticized for her performance on Ellen DeGeneres show, which the
host is openly gay. My curiosity pushed me to find out more about the reason
why Ellen invited Lauren to her show. CBN News reported on September 25 that Lauren
made history (that week) by becoming the first Christian singer to top all five
of Billboard Magazine's Christian charts, while also beating out top artists
like Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj and Drake. Daigle's latest album,
Look Up Child,
took first place on the Top Christian Albums Chart by a long shot. The singer
also placed third in the all-genre Billboard
200 category, ranking well-ahead of the world's top rappers and
pop stars. What an incredible achievement, I said to myself back then. No
wonder Ellen invited Lauren to her show on October 24

Lauren posted the video of the performance on her
Instagram account, and the responds were split ChristianToday reported on November 2 about the
pros and cons.
"One person wrote: 'You're very talented but
you're being blinded by fame we all fall of the wagon from time to time I just
hope we don't spend too much time in the world and wake up when it's too late.'
Another was critical of Daigle for not speaking
about Jesus during her appearance: 'How is she letting her light shine a net if
she didn't even declare Jesus Christ and the gospel at all. She just came on
there to sing.'
Others defended Daigle, saying it was an
opportunity to share the Gospel with Hollywood and the masses. "Ellen has
always been a very good and generous hostess. We know being good will not get
you into heaven. I am thankful she gave Lauren this platform. I can't think of
any other prime time show that will do that now. I have been praying for God to
save some of our leading faces of Hollywood to help start a change. I think we
all should be praying for this,' one Instagram user wrote.
Another wrote: 'In the full clip Ellen sends
everyone home with a copy of Look Up Child...powerful songs about God's
goodness and faithfulness... God is using you girl!!1 Stay strong in Him no
matter what this world throws at you.'"
At the same day, People wrote about how Lauren claps back after
being criticized for performing on Ellen DeGeneres' Show based on her interview
with WAY-FM Radio.
"Daigle came back at her critics, arguing that
“drawing lines in the sand” about who to support is the opposite of what
Christianity is supposed to be about.
“I think the second we start drawing lines around
which people are able to be approached and which aren’t, we’ve already
completely missed the heart of God,” Daigle said during a recent interview with
WAY-FM Radio.
“I don’t have all the answers in life and I’m
definitely not gonna act like I do, but the one thing that I know for sure is I
can’t choose who I’m supposed to be kind to and who I’m supposed to show love
to and who I’m not, because that’s the mission right?” she continued. “Be who
Christ was to everyone.”"
I totally agree with Lauren. It's not about what we
think is right is matter, but what is God want is matter the most. Apostle Paul
once said to Timothy on 1 Timothy 1 : 15 (NIV) "Here is a
trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst."
Jesus Christ told the Great Commission to the
disciples on Matthew 28 : 19 - 20 (NIV) "Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the
age."
Along with the Great Commision, Bible.org once preached that Jesus’ ministry was
centered on proclaiming the gospel. Mark 1:14-15 reports, “Now after John had been
taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and
saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and
believe in the gospel.’” And at the very end of His ministry, just before
He ascended, the risen Lord Jesus entrusted His followers with the Great
Commission. The four Gospels plus the Book of Acts have different versions of
this commission, showing that Jesus repeated it for emphasis in various forms:
- Matt. 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
- Mark 16:15 (in the textually disputed longer ending): “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
- Luke 24:46-48: “And He said to them, ‘Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.’”
- John 20:21: “So Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.’”
- Acts 1:8: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
Therefore, as Christian, it is our mission to
spread the Gospel. We have to glorify God by proclaiming the gospel to the lost
while watch and pray so that we will not fall into temptation. Lauren glorify
God by proclaiming gospel through her songs, what about us?
